Anne Sautelle

I work with my clients as a trusted learning partner , supporting them to find the courage, confidence, clarity and compassion to bring their best self to the organisations and communities they serve

The clients I have worked with include Senior Executives in leading global tech companies, Professional Services firms and climate monitoring; Group Managers, Australian Banking sector; Senior Executives in the Australian Public Service in Health, Social Services, Environment, Education, and Cancer portfolios and Senior Leaders in the Disability Services.

My client’s goal for coaching was to develop the skills and capabilities required for promotion to a role with significantly more scope and complexity. Their drive for achievement and delivery to the highest standards had come at the cost of personal exhaustion and negative impacts on important internal and external stakeholders.

Their passion for the work and the organisational purpose was evident and their hope for promotion depended on finding a new way to lead where high standards and excellent results were achieved through good working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. They understood that the complexity of their context would only increase as they moved up in the organisation and it was time to prepare for leading at a larger scale.

Through the coaching process they made the personal change necessary to thrive in their role and succeed in promotion – changing their ‘be-ing’ as well as their ‘do-ing’. They and their manager reported a greater capacity to reflect and flex, take care of self and others, see other and larger systemic perspectives and lead with more ease.

Each coaching engagement is unique and co-created. In every coaching conversation I listen deeply, holding a safe space for the client to explore what they want to accomplish during the coaching partnership. I offer a mix of support and challenge, enabling the client to surface not only what they need to do differently but also who they need to be to achieve the contribution that is uniquely theirs to choose and to make. This approach is underpinned by the different lenses I have assimilated in over 14 years working as a coach and consultant. I am skilled in Adult Development theory, developmental Growth Edge Coaching and the Growth Edge Interview, and I also draw on Action Learning methods, complexity theory, presence, and somatic approaches.

My first career as a physiotherapist greatly influenced my coaching approach. My first clients taught me how compassion, care and a deep respect for others was fundamental to achievement. I learnt the power of working within the client’s context to co-create a way forward, building on strengths and capabilities and overcoming limitations, fostering client agency and autonomy, learning together and celebrating as progress unfolded.

Fast forward to the life changing revelation through adult development theory, that we can continue to develop and expand the way we make sense of ourselves and the world and I found a way to integrate those earlier work experiences into a new career as a leadership coach.

“Anne is a great listener and coach. My sessions with her helped me work on the things that were super important. Her coaching has helped me to be more patient, thoughtful and purposeful in how I engage with my stakeholders and team and to recognize with more clarity how my actions impact not only the outcome, but how I get to the outcomes I feel are key for success.”
