John Sautelle

I am passionate about supporting senior leaders to grow their inner capacity to build resilient, adaptable, and restorative organisations.

Over the years I have worked in Australia and internationally with many organisations from all sectors. My recent clients include the Australian Antarctic Division, Australia and New Zealand School of Government, Cancer Australia, Dayforce, Department of Home Affairs (Australia), Department of Climate Change Energy Environment and Water (Australia) Egon Zehnder, Google, Meridian, Novartis, Parks Australia, Paul Ramsay Foundation, Salesforce and ServiceNow.

Over a period of two years, I supported an extended senior leadership team develop the capabilities to achieve their mission without compromising the well-being of their people, their community, and the environment. The program we created involved three levels of leadership, including the Senior Executive Team. Activities included one on one coaching, immersive workshops and action learning groups working on urgent, important challenges.

When working with my clients I draw on a range of methods and disciplines including adult development, embodied intelligence, internal family systems, immunity to change, systemic constellations, neuroscience, positive psychology, mindfulness, appreciative process and action learning.

In my executive coaching I have evolved a change process which is detailed in my book Choose Your Stories, Change Your Life

Dr Gervase Bushe, Professor of Leadership and Organization Development at Simon Fraser University, references this process in this testimonial:

… this is not an overly simplistic recipe nor does it rely on only one or two perspectives. Instead, Sautelle draws from a wide variety of methods and perspectives, some of high academic quality, others long tested in practice, some of them recent breakthroughs in psychological research. He offers a personal integration that comes from decades of experience. It is a unique and creative piece of work that will enrich coaches and clients, regardless of how knowledgeable they are (or are not). I enthusiastically recommend it.

Receiving support from gifted coaches and mentors in my own development journey, as well as learning from my clients, have been the primary shapers of my work.

Driven by the legacy of early trauma in my life, I have continually sought fields of knowledge and practice to help me heal and grow, which in turn have informed my coaching practice and approach. The most significant of these has included my initial mediation training whilst I was practising law, followed by training in Neuro Linguistic Programming with Dr John Grinder, Immunity to Change with Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, Adult Development Theory and Growth Edge Coaching with Jennifer Garvey Berger and Carolyn Coughlin, Family and Systemic Constellations with Mark Wolynn, Joanne Byrnes and others and Internal Family Systems with Simon D’Orsogna.

“John is one of the most gifted and effective coaches and facilitators I have worked with. Over the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of engaging John for support developing executives and leadership teams. I’ve always enjoyed working with John and appreciate the trust he creates to allow exploration of deeper issues and support lasting change.”
